Finalmente!

In honor of the movie we watched on the plane, our “Roman Holiday” has begun!!!!

So we left the states right on time on British Airways.  The plane was pretty big, it had two stories.  Our seats had great leg room but we first noticed one thing missing….our TV!!! All the other seats had something to watch and we were going to be real upset on a 10 HOUR plane ride with zero entertainment.  Luckily Joe started looked around our seats and realized our TV’s Rotated from the Floor Up.  Also our tray tables were hidden in our arm rest.  To make it even better we served a full meal and could choose from an arrangement of “mixed” drinks are frequently as we wanted.  To say the least our first flight into London was pretty smooth.  Some of the other highlights of getting there was this women who repeatedly waved and blew kisses to her husband every time we made a turn in the security line.

Once in the London Airport, things were pretty much like back in LA.  Terminal filled with a lot of shops and restaurants.   We decided to eat at this Japanese restaurant, Wagamama.  There isn’t a lot in the states but they were rated the number 1 restaurant in London.

We boarded on time for our plane but our pilot gave us a very uncomforting speech about the weather being unusually gloomy and rainy.  Besides the public announcement, the flight was smooth, we did receive a Ham and Egg sandwich though for our snack…didn’t look very appetizing. But we happily arrived in Roma by 7:30 p.m. local time, (9 hours ahead of the west coast).  Once we got our checked luggage we were expecting to be greeted by our driver that we arrive for, you know the ones that have the handwritten name signs. Well turned out our driver was stuck in traffic….for 2 HOURS!!! We really felt like the guy just never left on time but who knows.  Luckily we got into the city quickly.  As we got into town the radio station came in clearer and ironically the 1st three songs that played were:

1.       1. Black Eyed Peas – Rock Your Body
2.      2.  Lady Gaga – Alejandro
3.       3. Katy Perry ft. Snoop Dogg – California Girls

It was comforting to hear some music from home but once we got to our hotel we knew we had arrived.  Hotel Adler was on a back street with a super old style elevator or lift.  We took that upstairs and finally settled in.  Our 19 hour journey had finally came to an end.   To celebrate, we went out and order an authentic Italian pizza. It was ham, mozzarella, mushroom, tomato and egg.  A little different but the house vino (wine) made the meal taste awesome.
